AFAHO has 2 main Education Programs:

African Youth Empowerment Program and Adult Education

AFRICAN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (AYEP)

AYEP was created to empower African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee youth to improve their educational and health outcomes while equipping them with the skills and resources necessary to become self-sufficient, civically engaged, and well-adjusted young adults. This is achieved through 8 programmatic objectives to support various aspects of youth well-being:
  • Improve academic success (including school attendance) & familial engagement in education
  • Improve knowledge around sexual & reproductive and other health issues
  • Improve nutritional knowledge and habits
  • Improve overall behavioral/mental health
  • Increase participation in physical activities
  • Encourage positive acculturation
  • Promote community and civic engagement
  • Increase engagement in post-secondary education and training opportunities
